Retail Building Measurement Standards

In 2008, the International Council of Shopping Centers did a survey of its members and found that retail space measurement practices vary widely. Everyone "knows" what Gross Leasable Area (GLA) is but few can agree on exactly how it is measured. Now, a recognized standard for measuring retail space is finally available.

• The BOMA publication Retail Buildings: Standard Methods of Measurement is the only recognized measurement standard that is designed for measuring Gross Leasable Area (GLA) in retail buildings.
